AVID 11

AVID is a program to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility. It has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students, and in closing the achievement gap. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. In this elective class, students learn organizational and study skills, work on critical thinking and asking probing questions, receive academic help from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities that make college seem attainable.

California State University Channel Islands Field Trip

We will visit CSUCI on March 21.

UC Riverside Field Trip

Overnight field trip March 11-12. Parent and student must attend an orientation session and meet all requirements.

AVID speaker contest

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

On December 14 our class visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential library in Simi Valley. The highlight of the visit was touring Air Force One.

SAT Registration

All students in this class need to register for the SAT. The deadline for registration in March 29. The testing date is May 5. There are fee waivers for students who are economically disadvantaged. See Mrs. Twitchell in the counseling office for the forms. ALL four year colleges require the SAT.
